George has spent close to 38 years working in the Insurance Industry including holding Managements positions in Corporate, Personal, Commercial and HR areas. George is Independent Chairman of the RSA Pension Scheme Ireland.

Spending over 32 years as an elected member of Wicklow County Council and Greystones Town Council, George was four times Chairman of Wicklow County Council and six times Mayor of Greystones. Currently George is the Chairman of the Wicklow County Development Board.
George also chairs Greystones Home Help Company, Wicklow –Wurzburg Partnership Committee and the La Touche Legacy Committee. He was elected a Director of IPB in 2006 and became Chairman in 2010.

Ronan Foley

Ronan joined IPB as chief executive in August of this year and is the first executive director of IPB in its 85 year history.

Ronan joined the company from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group where he held the role of Managing Director in Ireland for over four years. During this time Ronan led the company to significant profitable growth. Prior to this, he held a number of senior management positions within Chubb Insurances of Europe including his roles as Vice President and Regional Manager for England South East.

Michael McGreal

Michael McGreal has been a member of the board of IPB since 2005 and has been a member of Roscommon County Council since 1985. Michael is also a member of the West Regional Authority and has also been Chairman of West Regional Authority.
In 2009/2010 Michael undertook the Diploma in Corporate Governance programme in UCD Michael Smurfit Business School and graduated in December 2010.

Garry Cullen
Director

Garry has over 40 years experience in the insurance industry both locally and internationally. His career ranges from risk surveyor and underwriter with RSA through broking with Coyle Hamilton Willis and Sedgwick Dineen (now Marsh).
In later years his career has taken him through the IFSC where in conjunction with the IDA and the Dept of Finance he brought the first captive insurance operation to Dublin. As the former CEO of Aon's international operation here in Ireland he has contributed to numerous conferences and seminars.
A founding member of DIMA, Garry is also a member of the Institute of Directors in Ireland. He currently holds a number of non executive directorships of insurance and reinsurance operations for both Irish and international operations.

Michael Fitzgerald

Michael is a Tipperary County Councillor of 32 years. Michael has served as Chairman of his own local authority on three occasions, chaired the South East Regional Authority and was President of The Association of County & City Councils.
A farmer and public representative, he has vast experience of Local Government and municipal authorities. Formally a board member of Dairygold Co-Op Society (Tipperary Region) for seven years. He has been a member of the board of IPB for the past four years.

Dermot Gorman

A chartered insurer with over 30 years experience in local and international markets, Dermot is an independent non-executive director of a number of insurance institutions based in Ireland, including subsidiaries of RSA and ACE.
He previously held senior positions at HSBC’s insurance operations and worked with FBD in the domestic market. He is also an active member of the Institute of Directors and an affiliate member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland.

Sean O'Grady
Director

Sean O’Grady has 31 years experience in the Insurance Industry and now pursues a full time career in public life. He has been an elected Member of the Killarney Town Council since 1974 and has held the position of Mayor on four occasions.
Sean serves on many community associations and devotes considerable time to helping young people in their fight against substance and alcohol misuse. In April 2010, he was appointed Chairman of the Joint Policing Committee.

Sean brought his considerable knowledge of the Industry to the Board in 2008 and is currently a serving Member of the Company’s Investment Policy Committee.

John Smyth
Director
John Smyth is a professional corporate governance specialist with extensive experience in Ireland, UK and Europe. He is also a Chartered Director and Chartered Secretary, with post graduate diplomas in corporate governance and company direction.
Former CEO in the First National Building Society / First Active plc, director of various companies including Department of Education- Northern Ireland and Meningitis Trust. John is also a past President of the Institute of Directors and Chairman of the Consultative Committee which produced a Code of Practice for Corporate Governance Assessment in Ireland in March 2010.
